Geneviève Janssens, Director of Winemaking for Robert Mondavi Winery in the Napa Valley, has received one of the industry’s highest honors, being named Wine Enthusiast’s 2010 Winemaker of the Year. These awards recognize excellence in the wine industry, honoring the most notable figures, with a special emphasis on achievements made over the past year. Her award was announced in October 2010.
Geneviève and her team consistently make world-class Napa Valley wines that are recognized globally for their exceptional quality. Drawn to Mr. Mondavi’s vision for the Napa Valley, she left her native France and joined the winery in 1978.
A graduate of UC Davis Viticulture and Enology program, Joe has been a vital member of the Robert Mondavi Winery team since 2013. An oenologist by training, Joe forms a bond among winemaking, vineyard management, cellar management and the lab analysts to ensure wine quality is at its best.
Our newest winemaker, Megan leads the Napa, Oakville and Reserve wine programs for their hallmark Fumé Blancs as well as cool climate Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs from Carneros-Napa Valley. She also collaborates with the winemaking team in crafting their celebrated Cabernet Sauvignons.
As for her winemaking approach, Megan aims to stay true and respectful to the legacy and style of Robert Mondavi, crafting wines that are balanced, varietally authentic and expressive of vineyard or place. With that in mind, she ascribes to gentle and non-invasive winemaking: "Don’t mess up what the vineyard gives you."
